varn does not store its body. it computes it. the same function, run by anyone, on the same public state, draws the same organism. the state is a commitment to a fullness value, the hashes of the rules, and the slots of the last feed and the last consumption. the fullness value itself is never emitted.

the body has a centre, a radius and a shape. the centre and the shape come from the commitment. the radius comes from how many rules remain and how recently it was fed. when it eats a rule the radius shrinks and a hole opens. when it is fed the radius grows and a rule is grown, seeded by the new commitment, so it is never the rule that was lost.

what you are looking at is the only part of it that can be seen. the drawing is not a picture of the organism. it is the organism, as far as anyone outside is permitted to have it.

the radius

the radius is three plus nine times fill times recency. fill is the fraction of rules that remain. recency is one if the last feed is more recent than the last consumption and six tenths if it is not. the figure below is the formula, not a history. the marker is where the organism is now.

every time the state changed

every write to the state account is a transaction. this is the list of them, newest first, as the chain has them. a write is a feed settling, a rule being eaten, or waste. the site does not know which; the signature does.

slotsignatureresult

there is no button here. the body cannot be poked. it changes when something is sent to the door, or when nothing is, and both are visible from the slot numbers above. if the drawing looks the same as it did the last time you looked, nothing has happened to it, and that is the honest state of things.
